Mother's Day CONTEST
Well, Mother's Day is just around the corner. As we work on cleaning out our basement, I have been going through old photographs and letters. I am struck by the women in my life who have impacted me. I like to think of Mother's Day as not just for the "moms" in our lives - but for the important women in my life. I have to agree with Oprah (just once): "Biology is the least of what makes someone a mother."
For me that's my wonderful sister who spoils me and my family beyond belief. My Grandma - who at 93 is as spunky and fun as ever! My mom who just loves, and loves, and loves some more. My aunts, my friends, my mother-in-laws, all the women who have invested time, love and energy into my life. Thank you.
As I was looking at photos that showed women's caring relationships - I was drawn to a reoccurring action. Children nestling into their moms - as if for protection and comfort. From babes to grown children, I think we think of the mom figures in our lives as a comfort. A refuge. I know when my own two girls are upset, they just need to be held and loved. My youngest, Eden, will ask "I lay head on your shoulder" when she is upset - and suddenly her two year-old world is right again.
This Mother's Day may you enjoy the comfort and love of the women in your life - and take time to thank them for how they have impacted you!
